Lauren Bush: Lauren’s mission to FEED the world

Being the granddaughter of a former U.S. president would be a daunting family legacy for anyone to live up to. However, former model and Princeton graduate Lauren Bush Lauren has managed to gracefully pave her own way. At the young age of 23, this business savvy philanthropist co-founded FEED, and that was just the beginning.

FEED Projects’ mission is to create good products that help FEED the world. This is accomplished by building a set donation behind the cost of each product. Each product has a stenchiled number on it, making the impact of every item understandable, tangible, adn meaningful. Lauren’s sense of social consciousness began to take shape when she was growing up, before she became the founder of FEED. “I was lucky to kind of grow up in a family where we always talked about public service adn we’d always go volunteer,” she stated in a recent interview for the Canadian Press. “We were made to be aware at a young age that we were very lucky and  there are many needs out there that need to be addressed.”

In 2004, Lauren was chosen as an Honorary Student Spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Programme. During this role she traveled to many countries around the world in Asia, Latin America, and Africa to learn about the realities of poverty and hunger. Inspired by the people she met, she designed the FEED 1 bag, reminiscent of the bags used by the WFP to distribute food. Each bag purchased feeds one child in school for a year.
