Ever thought you could fit your entire home into a single shipping container comfortably? Katie Nichols of Numen Development has proven that you can with the Uber 360 Gourment Studio. With a bit of ingenuity and efficient space planning, she managed to fit all of the necessities of a regular home inside the confines of a single 45′ shipping container. The exposed container walls not only create a modern and industrial aesthetic, but they also provide an easy surface to hang artwork with the use of magnets.
Nichols having lived in the 360 herself, fondly reminisces, “I’ve owned homes in a couple of different places, and it was my favorite…I miss it”. According to Nichols people are shocked to learn that the space is only 360 squre feet. She explains, “One of the things that we do to be green, is that we hyper-design the interiors of the home so that they’re more functional, and feel bigger. You’re not building more square footage to heat and cool, so that you’re building not only a highly functional space, but it feels like it is one and a half times bigger than it is.”
The small but efficient home includes amenities such as a jacuzzi tub, space for a stackable washer/dryer, a 15 linear foot kitchen with plenty of storage and a full size dishwasher and range. It also fits a queen size bed and a full 8ft. closet. The 12ft. sliding glass doors in the kitchen lead to a cozy sun deck perfect lounging.
