Valentine’s Day, also known as V-Day, a day to end violence against women and girls.
One in three women will be raped or harmed during her lifetime. That equals more than ONE BILLION women and girls! No longer is it a women’s issue, but a global crisis and movement. ONE BILLION RISING campaign is calling all women and men around the globe to join them on Valentine’s Day largest day of action.
V-Day is a global activist movement to stop sexual abuse and violence against girls and women. The founder, Eve Ensler, is an award winning playwright, performer, activist, and author. You might also know her as the author of the popular Vagina Monologues that has been performed for 11 years and in over 140 countries. V-Day produces films, campaigns, and events to change social attitudes towards violence against women. It began in 1998 as one event, NOW in 190 countries ONE BILLION RISING will dance, strike, express their demand for change, empower, raise awareness, and celebrate women.
